The Himlung Expedition follows the scenic Round Annapurna route to Koto and then continues towards the Nar-Phu region. After exploring the beautiful villages of Nar and Phu, the trek proceeds to the base camp, where climbers establish the Himlung Base Camp. From there, three high camps are set up to prepare for the summit attempt. The full expedition takes approximately 31 to 35 days, starting and ending in Kathmandu. The best time to attempt this climb is September and October.
Mt. Himlung is rapidly gaining popularity among climbers as one of Nepal’s less-visited peaks. Located on the Nepal-Tibet border, north of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges, it majestically towers above the Tibetan village of Phu in western Nepal. Opened to climbers by the Nepalese government in 1992, Himlung has since seen only a limited number of expeditions, including teams from Japan and France. Its remote location, breathtaking scenery, and challenging routes make it a rewarding adventure for serious mountaineers.

Overview
The Himlung Expedition is located near the Tibetan border in the Manaslu region, northeast of the Annapurna range. The area was opened to climbers by the Nepalese government in 1992. The expedition route follows the Round Annapurna Trail to Koto, then continues from Koto towards Nar and Phu villages. Along the way, trekkers traverse high peaks and passes, remote villages, narrow gullies, dense forests, rocky terrains, natural springs, Gompas, and culturally unique settlements. Due to its remote and untouched location, very few tourists have explored this pristine region, making it a truly off-the-beaten-path adventure.
